Gilca sponges are 100% synthetic latex
Unlike most of our competitors, Gilca sponges are 100% synthetic latex. This means that they do not contain any natural rubber proteins and are consequently safe from causing any allergic reactions to natural rubber latex. Natural rubber latex comes from the milky sap of the rubber tree, Herea brasiliensis, which grows in Africa, Asia and South America. A natural latex allergy can be described as an adverse skin reaction to the complex compounds known as proteins found in natural rubber latex (NRL). Natural latex proteins react with the body's IgE antibodies, a group of structurally related human serum proteins responsible for allergies, to produce a host of symptoms including skin rashes, a runny nose and sore throats.
Gilca sponges offer quality
Gilca's manufacturing process gives a soft and luxurious feel to all our sponges, producing a very fine foam structure enabling ease of application of the make-up for a professional finish. Gilca's carbon dioxide (CO2) latex process differs from most of the Sodium Silico Fluoride (SSF) methods. Our standard sponge ranges include anti-bacterial and anti-UV (Ultra Violet) treatments. A special anti-copper treatment is available if required. These treatments offer enhanced aesthetic qualities and performance characteristics. Gilca's foaming process is environmentally friendly
Gilca's sponge manufacturing process is more environmentally friendly in comparison to most other latex foam manufacturers. Our latex production process utilizes carbon dioxide (CO2) foaming technology in preference to Sodium Silico Fluoride (SSF), the later being more harmful to the environment.
Gilca's latex alternative, we also manufacture and convert, our own unique cosmetic grade of polyurethane foam. Developed with our chemical suppliers, this high performance hydrophobic ( non-swell ) foam, mimmicks all the qualities of our synthetic latex.
As with all of our products, Gilca chose the enviromentally friendly option when developing this product and use only MDI systems when foaming there polyurethanes.
Memory Foam - Visco Elastic Foam, new to Gilca's product base is our Mattress and Mattress Toppers Memory Foam system. Known as MEMORISE, this foam offers comfort, performance and durability. MEMORISE is temperature sensitive, it adjusts to every human shape and contour and helps to improve a deeper, healthier sleep.
Molded Foam Products - new for 2009, polyurethane molded foam products.
Gilca are currently working on a system, to replace natural rubber latex foam products, where NRL can not be used. This will give all of the benefits of NRL, but without the health risks, currently associated with natural latex.
